Trad Tours was begun in 1998 at the suggestion of travelers on a typical "pub tour" of Ireland. Founder of Trad Tours, Marianne MacDonald, had taken a few of the travelers on the pub tour out for an evening of dancing including sets, waltzes, two-hand dances and ceili dancing. The group enjoyed their time so much they suggested that she start doing her own tours, where there would be a mix of traditional music, dancing and touring.
Trad Tours is dedicated to providing tours with the main focus on traditional music and dance of Ireland, Cape Breton and beyond. Trad Tours has run group tours since 1998, incorporating sight-seeing, cultural visits, daily traditional entertainment including set-dance weekends, ceilidhs, sessions, concerts and workshops, and opportunities to meet and play with local and visiting musicians.
Tours running from 5-8 days with a special emphasis on music and dance, especially traditional Irish sessions and ceilidhs. A large part of the enjoyment of the tours is two-fold. The first aspect is that of a group of like-minded persons with a common interest in the & pure drop of the music and dance. The second aspect is that of the off-the-beaten track focus of our journeys.
